Quick guide to successfully completing the Know-Your-Customer verification process

Completing the Know Your Customer verification process (KYC) is a great way to keep contributing as a valued member of the Freelancer.com community. Today we bring you some useful tips in order to help you have a smooth experience. Let’s get started!

Why should I complete it?

You can complete the KYC process at any time in order to verify your account and become a trusted member of the platform. And it’s a necessary step if you want to withdraw your earnings through Wire, PayPal, or Skrill. If you get it done now, you can stay one step ahead in case you wish to withdraw your earnings in the future. 

What do I need to complete my KYC?

There are essentially three documents you will need to provide in order to complete your KYC:

  • Proof of ID: Acceptable identification documents include Passport, driver’s license, national ID card, among others. You can submit either a colored scan or great quality photo of these documents.

  • Proof of Address: Acceptable documents include bank statements and utility bills issued within the last three months, or income tax return issued in the last year, among others. You can submit your ID as a proof of address if the address displayed is current., You can submit either the original PDF or a colored scan of any of the acceptable documents. 

  • Keycode Photo: This keycode photo is a picture of yourself holding your ID and a piece of paper where you’ve written down a unique code we'll send you once you submit your ID and Proof of Address. We need to be able to read all of the information on your ID and the piece of paper, so make sure it is a high quality photo with good lighting.

Uploading your information and review

Once you have gathered all the documents and you’re ready to take your photo, you can upload your information through the Verification Center by clicking here. The Freelancer Verification Team will then review the information and update you on the progress through the Verification Center.

Please note that this process can take up to 2 to 3 business days. But don’t worry, we will notify you when the review process is complete. 

What happens if I submit a document that’s not accepted?

If you upload a document that’s not accepted, the Verifications Team will notify you and you can try again by submitting one of the documents that appear in the checklist mentioned above. Please read your notifications carefully, as they will give you detailed guidelines on how to successfully complete your submission. If you have any questions you can contact the Support team at support@freelancer.com and they will gladly assist you.

My verification is complete now, what are the next steps?

Congratulations! Now you are part of our trusted community at Freelancer.com. We’ll add a green check to your verifications box that appears on the lower part of your profile to confirm that the KYC is completed. If you’re a Freelancer, you can also apply to our Preferred Freelancer or Verified programs, which will allow you to participate in enterprise or big-budget projects and contests.
