SEO Tips: Ways to Improve Your PageRank

Postat pe - Modificat ultima dată pe

Do you want to be on the top page of Google when people search for a particular keyword related to your niche? If so, you need to have a good PageRank (PR).

PageRank indicates the relevance and importance of a website. It ranges from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest rank. It is measured by the number of external and organic links leading to your website. To get your webpage closer to PR 10, here are some tips to help you.

Create quality content

If you want others to link back to you or cite your website as a reference, make sure that you have quality content.  Information found on your page should be useful, original, and relatable. More so, it should be on-point and focused on your niche or the subject that you want a webpage to rank high for.

Place keywords strategically

Target keywords should be visible in your title tag and in the body of your content. Make sure that keywords used are relevant on the page where they’re found.

On the other hand, the use of keywords can backfire on you if you overdo it because this can result to the webpage being flagged as spam. That’s the last thing that you would want, of course. However, there can be instances where you may tend to unconsciously commit that mistake. Let me cite an example.

Let’s say you have a webpage for long-term care insurance. Of course, that’s a pretty specific term to identify a particular financial product, and you will need to use it a lot of times to explain what it is about. In cases like this, you can avoid keyword stuffing by using alternative words or phrases that also pertain to it such as LTCI, LTC policy, insurance for long-term care, or LTC coverage.

Distribute your content

Apart from being cited as a resource, you also need to distribute your content through different avenues such as social media, forums, blog commenting, and even guest blogging. Social media is a good way to broadcast your content and build your reputation. Forums are also a good way to reach out to the community and lead them to your website. Just make sure that the backlinks you post in forums are relevant to the topic in the thread, so that you will not appear as a spammer. The same goes for blog commenting. This practice will not only help you create awareness about your website, it will also help you build relationships with people who can help distribute your content.

Guest blogging can still work for you as long as you produce quality content that people use, and not just for the sake of creating backlinks. If you do it solely for the latter, your article can be flagged as spam, which will do more harm than good.

Do a backlink clean-up

Your PR is not only measured by the quantity of backlinks leading to your website—it's also based on the reputation of the webpage where your backlinks are posted. If you want to increase your PR, you can consider doing a backlink clean-up. You can do this search via Google to see which websites mention you, and ask those with low reputation to take out your links.
