Sumarul concursului
The goal of this challenge is to create a graphic to be used by the Human Factors Engineering Lab (HFEL) team. The graphic should convey the key themes of human spaceflight and exploration (see below). You may optionally choose to reference parts of the graphic for the Human System Engineering and Integration Division, of which HFEL is part of (file attached). The graphic will be used in multiple ways at NASA. A small version of the graphic may be used in the top corner of documents, a larger version could be used on the title page of presentation materials, or the graphic may be used on other products developed by the NASA team.
Background
Living and working in space presents unique challenges unlike those experienced on Earth. The human factors specialists in the HFEL at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) study the human both physically and psychologically in order to design and develop the tools, equipment, and vehicles that astronauts need to successfully and safely perform their work on missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond. Our lab provides evaluation, testing, and analysis for the design of human system interactions including displays and controls, workstations, and vehicle/habitat environments. Lab team members have diverse backgrounds and experience in human factors engineering, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, UX and UI design, physiology, and industrial engineering. Using structured methodologies and specialized tools, human factors experts facilitate human-centered design processes in the design of hardware and software by supporting integration of humans with complex technical systems.
Lab personnel expertise includes experimental design, task analysis, human-in-the-loop evaluations, human performance measures (workload, situation analysis, usability), human factors engineering design assessments (habitat volume and layout architecture, anthropometry and biomechanics), and statistical analysis. Our lab facilities and equipment include user testing and control rooms, video recording, editing, and analysis equipment, eye tracking, virtual reality and augmented reality, and specialized statistical analysis software.

Graphic Requirements:
• Both a color version and black/white version are required.
• Source File Requirements: All original vector source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files.
• All non-standard Windows/Apple fonts must be listed in a text file within your Submission Zip file. Include the name of the font and a link to where it can be downloaded/purchased. DO NOT include any font files in your submission or source files.
• All text in the graphic should be converted to outlines.
• Preview Image Requirements: Please create your graphic preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi. Show your graphic on BOTH a black and white background.
• The NASA insignia or other NASA logos cannot be used as any part of the submission.
Other Preferences:
• Color pallet is open, but limited to 6 colors. Do not create a graphic that uses only the red, white and blue colors, like the NASA insignia.
• Please avoid gradients or other special effects as they are difficult to reproduce across all media.
Stock Photography Requirements:
• Stock photography is not allowed in this contest. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you.
Judging Criteria:
• Requirements: Does your submission meet the requirements as stated within the challenge?
• Quality: Does your submission look fresh, professional, and clean?
• Concept: Does your submission represent what the Human Factors Engineering Lab stands for?
Please note that NASA employees/contractors are not eligible for this contest.
