3D product Design Contest for a simple ice cream scoop
Ordinary ice cream scoops utilize the frictional force created by hard gipping on the handle to dig through ice cream. This is inefficient and much gripping force is required for hard frozen ice cream. A much more efficient design would be by use of a "finger stopper-pusher" located at the forefront of the handle and a "palm pusher" located at the rear end of the handle. This way, the full force of a user's hand can be applied pushing the scoop to dig foreword into the ice cream without having to grip hard on the handle.
This new ice cream scoop should be produced entirely by cutting, bending and forming a stainless-steel sheet with minimum or no welding. The thickness of the material should be between 2 to 5 MM and can be different within the unit. The handle should be fairly wide enabling easy twisting, perhaps having a width between 0.5 to 0.8 of the width of the scoop head.
A picture of a spoon with a "finger stopper-pusher" is provided here for reference as well as a couple of the "palm push" designs. Note the contestant will supply his/her own idea about the shape of the scoop head and the palm push, but the design of the finger stop-push should be more or less the same as shown.
Judgement will be based on the most efficient, ergonomic, and elegant design. The final files will be in both STEP and STL. Participants are encouraged to submit their entries early as a winner may be chosen ahead of the contest completion date but no earlier than 5 days.
