Photo retouching is the process of editing or ‘manipulating’ a photograph, with the aim to improve the look or composition of the image. From professional photographers to amateurs on social media, it is accessible to all through a variety of different apps and software.
The most frequent use of retouching, is to edit out blemishes and smooth out skin and hair in portraits (including selfies). A professional retoucher will be able to edit a photo to improve the appearance, while an observer wouldn’t think that the image had been retouched at all.
The edit can include fixes to lighting, removal of acne, whitening of teeth, and even getting rid of those pesky bags under your eyes. Depending on the premium, there are a variety of different services offered to make the best of a photo.
