(python) script for automatic timelapse machine that makes the images, make the video and post it online.
I am doing a personal project to make an automatic timelapse machine that makes the images, make the video and post it online. I am using a Canon 500D, Raspberry Pi with 2 external harddrives and a weatherproof case.
I have all the hardware and found a lot of inspiriting YouTube videos, blogs and websites for the software. Also lots of scripts available online, but nothing I can combine to a (python3) script that’s suits all my needs. (I don’t know how to code hardcore ;-), but understand the basics)
Here is the description how I like to get a script that’s runs after booting my Raspberry and makes all automatic the images, video and post it online:
Kill the running processes if needed (learned this online)
Making timelapse photo’s (it have to run every day at a starting time and the time have to be adjustable)
starting at 06:00
stop at 08:00
Set the settings in the camera: iso, F-stop and shutter speed (the focus is set manually)
Set the time between photo's
Save photo’s to external harddrive (A)
Make folder with name: todays date + starting time timelapse
Rename images if needed
Optional on/of: delete folder 14 days old (for storage saving)
If timelapse photo’s is completed start with next process, making the video
Make video of photo’s just taken, with adjustable settings, into .MP4 (or extension that works with all post I like to do)
Save videos to external harddrive (B)
(so there are 2 external harddrives, A for images and B for video storage)
If timelapse videos is completed start with next process, posting the video online.
I like to post the video to the following locations/platforms:
The post have to get a textual description of location, time started, etc etc.
I like to get a fixed budget for writing the script that’s does all above. Also within the script a description what the code is for and what I have to adjust to get a different output.
And also a description what I have to do to run the script with booting if the raspberry losses power and boot if power is up again.
