2009 BMW 328i xDrive E90 LCI - halogen low and high beams and LED halo/angel eyes. Looking to have the halo/angel eyes coded to be the default Daytime Running Lights (without Corner LEDs, low or high beams, fog lights or taillights being on). Existing condition is that the halo/angel eyes are only coming on with low beams when in Auto position (at night only) or with low beams turned on. No lights are currently working as the Daytime Running Lights. I have wrapped myself around the axle several times over reading thru the multitude of BMW forums and trying to get it to work via Carly and Bimmercode (standard and expert modes). I do have Carly and Bimmercode available. I can be pretty flexible on my end as far as date and time are concerned. Shouldn't be a problem setting up for remote login on my end and connection to the car. Apple iPad has Carly and Windows 11 laptop has Bimmercode. If anyone is interested let me know. I can provide additional details as required. Thanks!

Hi, As a Master’s graduate in Automatics and Systems classified in the Top 1% of Freelancers Worldwide in Technical Support, I bring extensive hands-on experience in automotive diagnostic software, CAN bus communications, and BMW ECU/module coding (FRM2/FRM3, CAS, KOMBI, NBT). How I Will Execute This Remote Coding Session: Remote Session Setup: Connect remotely to your Windows 11 laptop using TeamViewer/AnyDesk and interface directly via BimmerCode or BMW Standard Tools (NCS Expert / INPA / E-Sys). FRM3 Parameter Configuration: Modify the Footwell Module (FRM3) parameters in Expert Mode / NCS Expert to set the Corona Rings (Angel Eyes) as the sole DRL source (DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_V_K), increase PWM voltage output for maximum LED brightness, and suppress low/high beams, tail lights, and US sidemarkers/corner LEDs during daytime operation. Troubleshooting & Backup: Take a full NCD/Trace backup before applying changes to ensure safe execution and verify cluster/iDrive DRL toggle functionality (VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL). Availability & Terms: Completion Time: ~30–45 minutes total session time. Flexibility: Fully flexible to align with your schedule for a live remote coding session. I am ready to set up the remote connection whenever you are prepared to connect your interface to the vehicle. Best regards, Zakaria L.

Hi, Bojan here, from Serbia. What matters most in fixing your BMW E90 LCI halo/angel retrofit is fixing the cause, so the problem stays gone after the next update. I'm a senior software developer with 8+ years of experience working with Technical Support and Software Development. For your BMW E90 LCI halo/angel retrofit, the real challenge is finding the real cause. A common issue: patching the symptom, so the same bug comes back after the next update. My plan: first, reproduce each issue on a copy of the project and note the steps. Then, fix the root cause and keep each change small and documented. Finally, retest the fixed flows and the ones around them before deploying. I've done maintenance work before, so I check early for fixes that break a neighboring feature. A few questions to better understand the scope: 1. Did the problems start after an update? Then I compare against that change first, it usually points to the cause. 2. Add a short note to each fix? I'd recommend it, the next developer sees why each change was made. 3. Is there a busy time when changes should not go live? I deploy outside it, with a way back if anything goes wrong. I can start right away. Happy to go over the details here in chat and suggest the best approach. Looking forward to hearing from you, Bojan

Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience in automotive electronics, diagnostics, configuration, and remote troubleshooting. I can help determine the correct lighting-module settings for your 2009 E90 LCI and configure the halo/angel eyes as the default DRLs while keeping the corner LEDs, low/high beams, fog lights, and taillights off during daytime operation. My approach will be to first confirm the installed FRM/NFRM module and available adapter, back up the current coding, then make only the required changes and verify operation in daylight, Auto, parking-light, and low-beam modes. If Carly or BimmerCode cannot expose the necessary parameters for your module, I can guide you through an appropriate Windows-based BMW coding setup for the remote session. Please contact me to discuss the adapter you have and arrange a suitable remote session.

BMW lighting coding can be frustrating when Carly and BimmerCode expose dozens of parameters but the actual DRL behavior depends on the E90 LCI lighting module configuration. I can troubleshoot the existing coding remotely and focus specifically on making the halo/angel eyes the default DRLs, while keeping the low/high beams, fogs, taillights and corner LEDs off during normal daytime operation. My approach would be to first identify the exact E90 LCI lighting/FRM configuration, review the current Carly/BimmerCode settings, back up the original coding, then test the relevant DRL/angel-eye parameters systematically. I’d make changes incrementally and verify behavior in Auto/daylight and nighttime conditions. Most challenging: avoiding a setting that appears correct in the coding interface but triggers unwanted lights on the actual car. I’d use the current configuration as the baseline and validate each change against the requested lighting behavior. Since you already have Carly, BimmerCode, an iPad and Windows 11 laptop, we can work remotely without requiring additional hardware. If you send the current coding screenshots and FRM details, I can start narrowing down the relevant parameters.

Hello! - Jean-Guy here from Atlanta to support you with your project⚡. As a V-Worker Founder with 20+ Yrs of experience since 2006 in BMW vehicle coding, I see you're looking to properly code your 2009 E90 LCI's halo/angel eyes to function as the sole Daytime Running Lights, without any other lights being active. The key challenge with the E90's FRM module is that standard app modes often fail to isolate the angel eyes correctly. The solution requires navigating Bimmercode's expert mode to directly modify the specific parameters that control DRL behavior, a task that is complex without precise knowledge of the correct values for your specific halogen setup. My approach is certain and efficient. We will schedule a brief remote session. I'll guide you to connect your Windows laptop to the car, then I will remotely access it. Using your Bimmercode software, I will enter expert mode for the Footwell Module (FRM) and precisely edit the necessary parameters to activate the angel eyes as DRLs while deactivating all others. This is a very common task for me and is completed quickly and safely. I look forward to connecting and getting your Bimmer's lights looking just right. Best, Jean-Guy.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T HIRE ME, YOU'LL WALK AWAY WITH A FREE CONSULTATION. You need to reprogram your E90 LCI's halo eyes to function as standalone daytime running lights, bypassing the current logic that ties them to low beam activation. The two hardest parts are getting the coding right through Bimmercode or Carly and then testing the behavior remotely to confirm the halos fire without triggering corner LEDs, low beams, or fog lights. Here's how I'd approach it: - Review your current Bimmercode and Carly configurations to identify which modules control halo activation and DRL assignment - Work through the coding logic step-by-step with remote access to your iPad and laptop, testing each change against your actual vehicle - Validate the final setup so halos alone serve as DRL in auto mode without lighting any other circuits I've completed multiple automation and integration projects where precise configuration and remote troubleshooting were critical to getting complex systems working correctly. Let's set up a free consultation so I can take a closer look at your setup and walk you through the solution. Kind regards, Cornelius

I am Bilal, a 5+ years experienced automotive/electrical engineering professional. I can help configure your 2009 BMW 328i xDrive E90 LCI so the factory halo/angel eyes operate as the primary daytime running lights without activating the low/high beams, corner LEDs, fog lights or taillights. What I’ll deliver Review your current lighting configuration and coding values Identify the correct FRM/lighting module parameters Configure halo/angel eyes as dedicated DRLs Keep low/high beams, fogs, corner LEDs and taillights OFF during DRL operation Configure Auto/night operation so normal headlight behavior remains intact Work with your existing BimmerCode/Carly setup where supported Verify the final behavior and restore/document original coding values if required I understand the E90 LCI lighting configuration can vary by FRM version, market coding and factory headlight setup, so I’ll verify the module and existing parameters before making changes rather than applying generic forum settings. We can perform the session remotely with your Windows 11 laptop/BimmerCode setup and test each lighting state step-by-step. Best regards Bilal.
