I’m looking for an experienced mentor who can guide my students through effective job-search strategies. The goal is to help them understand how to identify suitable roles, research employers, network with professionals, and position themselves confidently in today’s competitive market. Key focus • Teach practical job-search tactics: leveraging LinkedIn, industry forums, career fairs, and alumni networks. • Show them how to analyse job descriptions so they can tailor applications appropriately. • Provide actionable weekly tasks they can practise between sessions (e.g., informational interview outreach, targeted company lists). Format I prefer live virtual sessions (Zoom, Google Meet, or similar) combined with brief follow-up notes or worksheets. A small group workshop followed by short 1-on-1 check-ins would work well, but I’m open to your approach if it encourages active participation and measurable progress. Timeframe & cadence I’d like to start within the next two weeks and run an initial four-week programme, meeting once per week. If the students respond well, we can extend the engagement. Future scope While the immediate need is job-search strategy, we may expand later into résumé building and interview preparation, so familiarity with those areas is a plus. If you have a proven track record helping students transition successfully into the workforce and you can share simple yet powerful tools or templates, I’d love to collaborate.

The step students skip is the one that makes networking work: picking 15 to 20 target employers before writing to anyone. Without a list, outreach turns into 'any openings?' sent to strangers, and those mostly go unanswered. With one, the Alumni tab on the college's LinkedIn page filters graduates by company and role, and the ask becomes a 15-minute chat about how they got in. Four weeks: one live group workshop a week on Zoom or Meet, then short one-on-one check-ins. Week 1 is the target list and a LinkedIn profile that fits it. Week 2 is reading job descriptions: what's required versus nice to have, and tailoring an application to it. Week 3 is alumni outreach and informational interviews, with message templates. Week 4 covers career fairs, follow-ups and a routine they can keep. Each session ends with a worksheet and a task, like five outreach messages sent, plus a shared tracker of messages, replies, calls, referrals, applications and interviews. That tracker is your measure of progress, not attendance. Background: I mentor engineers on career strategy, run mock interviews and resume reviews, and lead team workshops, on top of 8+ years in AI and software, where I led and mentored a 12-member engineering team.
