I need structural calculations for the removal of a chimney breast.
The chimney breast that I would like to remove is in the Kitchen, it is attached to the chimney for the Lounge fire next door which will remain in place. The builder is proposing to remove the brickwork in the Kitchen and installing gallows brackets and a concrete lintel in the loft space above (the property is a bungalow). The remaining chimney stack would then be supported off the chimney remaining in place.
I am looking for structural calculations and design information that will satisfy Building Control that the structural support complies with the Building Regulations.
