Introduction to Scope of Work

Sub-Surface Soil Survey is an important sub-process in the construction of Power Transmission lines. Sub-Surface Soil Survey is primarily conducted to gather various information such as Soil Texture, Soil density, Soil bearing capacity, Angle of Earth frustum, Water Table Depth and Bed Rock from all tower sites to decide the foundation type for towers. All these parameters are required till 5 meters depth. Currently, sub-surface soil surveys are conducted in the traditional manner which is the Standard Penetration Test. The problem with SPT is that it is both Time and Labour intensive.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

We need an advance sub-surface survey methodology for retrieving the above-stated parameters. We are exploring technological interventions to have an end to end sub-surface survey solution. We need the solution under these categories:

1. Satellite based

2. Aerial based

3. Ground based (Sensors, instruments)

Final solution can be a combination of above three platforms. Our main objective is to achieving maximum accuracy (ZERO VARIATION) in sub-surface survey outcome and eliminate the need for boring based soil investigation.
