A pivot's calculated field works on totals, not on rows. So a field like Qty*Rate gives the sum of Qty times the sum of Rate on every subtotal, a figure that matches nothing in your books, and Excel shows no error. Your control totals would catch it, but late. So row-level maths sits in the data sheet as its own column, and the pivots only add up. Ratios like margin % go the other way, worked out on the totals and never summed, since two rows at 10% shouldn't show 20%. The raw files go into one Excel Table with dates and amounts properly typed, so a refresh picks up new rows and month grouping works. IFERROR goes only where an error is expected, like an unknown account code, so real problems stay visible. A check sheet compares each pivot total with the raw total, and the notes cover refreshing and adding accounts. Background: fraud and churn models on bank transaction data, built in Python and SQL. Does your financial year run April to March? Pivot grouping only knows calendar quarters and years, so FY columns would go in the data sheet. Ronak
