Build a tool to import products into Shopify

We want to import approx. 5000 products into our Shopify store. These products are right now stored in an application at our vendor (see documentation) There is a FTP Server for customers to provide a dataset which is up to date, which can be used for several purposes like: - Creating application searches by Make, Model and years - Connect online databases like web shops, company websites, etc. to product data and product pictures Points of attention: - The textfiles can be opened as .csv files, where all of the data is seperated in columns - Product pictures should be accessible via links in the Products list (but I can't see them) or via a folder where you are able to download .zip files with product pictures. - It seems that the full description is not stored in the .txt files, but maybe can be found via the API (see documentation) - the data may be transferred directly into Shopify, or may also be delivered as a .csv which directly can be imported in Shopify (then we can still make some adjustments before importing) Deliverables: - an application which can convert this data into Shopify - all of the product information is needed (price/images/variants/options) in Shopify - a year/make/model selector is already on the store, maybe we have to add this data to the existing one, but otherwise you should be able to make it work on a new kind of selector What we want to hear from you: - What is your Shopify skills level? - What would be your plan to build this? - How long do you think this wil take you to build? - Is it possible to store the testenvironment of the application on your site and have an production environment on our site?
