Match/Merge Data (manually or fuzzy-match somehow): Industry identifiers from 2 lists (~500 vs. 1200 IDs) - 29/04/2018 07:05 EDT

Input: two different sets of industry identifiers in Excel. Around 1200 SIC codes (codes from the US census), and around 500 codes called "TOL" from the Finnish census. Expected output: Key-file matching the two. I would need to match these two. Is is more important that all SIC codes have a TOL equivalent than the other way around, but better if the key also includes all TOL (just copy the SIC codes if multiple codes would work for it). Example: SIC code 2711: Newspaper Publishers is the equivalent to TOL code 2212: Publishing of newspapers The reason I am not fuzzy matching here is that many examples are not matchable based on strings. For instance: SIC 0111 Wheat Farming is TOL 1111 Growing of cereals, pulses and oil plants SIC 0112 Rice Farming is TOL 1111 Growing of cereals, pulses and oil plants If you figure out a fuzzy matching solution in some program that takes care of that, or you combine it with some manual matching, of course works for me as well. Expected time: I matched some around 100 manually myself and based on that think it's doable in another 2-3 hours if done manually.
