Our current PCB is designed to control four strings of addressable Leds over WiFi using a NodeMCU ESP8266 V2. Works well, but could be better with a few changes.
--- Revisions ---
- It uses a logic level shifter to connect the 3.3 V ESP data ports to 5 V Leds. We found that there are two sizes of shifters and it is difficult to know what you will get when ordering. A second set of pin holes 2.54 mm WIDER would accommodate both sizes. {See pictures}
- Using the same approach of having an alternate set of pin holes, the PCB should accommodate either a V2 or the wider V3 NodeMCU ESP8266.
- The pin order on the Led terminal mounts is currently data, ground and then 5V. {D,Gnd,V} To match the order on a standard strip of Leds the order needs to be ground, data in the middle, and then 5V. {Gnd,D,V}
- The board should fit into this box: [login to view URL]

-new PCB dimension 95x55 mm
- Assembling the PCB for the box will require mounting the terminals inward, or with sufficient clearance from the side. Holes will be cut for wires and DC barrel jack.
- The DC barrel jack will be moved 1.5mm closer to the edge so that it is almost flush when in the box.
- The back of the board has [login to view URL] (CAPS) in solder. This should be [login to view URL], still in solder. FRED will remain as it is (or larger) in solder on the top where it will not be covered by components.
- Wider solder lines from the power source to the Led terminals.
- The screen print will continue to have the same information it does now.
-The screen print will have FRED printed in big block letters under the ESP chip.
- The screen print will have [login to view URL] printed at 25mm or larger anywhere it fits.
- Not critical. The terminal data ports are not in sequence when mapped to the ESP. (1,6,5,2) Changing them to 1,2,5,6 would be nice.
