I am developing a complete FPGA-based 5G NR Low-PHY platform for an O-RAN 7.2x radio architecture. The objective is to design, implement, integrate, optimize, and validate the complete real-time digital signal-processing chain rather than isolated FPGA blocks. The scope covers O-RAN 7.2x/eCPRI fronthaul processing, IQ compression/decompression, FFT/IFFT and cyclic-prefix processing, resource and antenna mapping, 2×2 and 4×4 MIMO, precoding and digital beamforming, DUC/DDC, channelization, interpolation/decimation, digital filtering, CFR, DPD, calibration, gain/phase correction, multi-carrier processing, timing/synchronization, and high-speed ADC/DAC interfaces. The engineer will be responsible for FPGA architecture, RTL/HLS/IP implementation, block integration, clock-domain and data-path design, fixed-point optimization, resource utilization, latency and throughput optimization, timing closure, simulation, hardware validation, debugging, and performance characterization!! The platform should support configurable 5G NR bandwidths and numerologies, multiple carriers, 2×2 and 4×4 operation, and integration between the O-RAN fronthaul, Low-PHY/DFE processing, and RF/DAS hardware! Preferred platform is AMD Xilinx Versal, with the final device selected according to processing, bandwidth, interface, and resource requirements. The final objective is a modular, configurable, hardware-validated Low-PHY FPGA platform that can serve as the digital foundation for future 5G RU and DAS development!!!!!!!

Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience in FPGA/SoC architecture, real-time DSP, high-speed data paths, fixed-point design, and hardware bring-up. I can support the complete 5G NR Low-PHY development on AMD Xilinx Versal, covering the path from O-RAN 7.2x/eCPRI and IQ compression through FFT/IFFT, MIMO/beamforming, DUC/DDC, filtering, CFR/DPD, calibration, and ADC/DAC integration. I would begin by defining the bandwidth, numerology, carrier, latency, clocking, and interface requirements, then partition the design into modular RTL/HLS/IP blocks with clear verification points. My work can include simulation, timing and resource optimization, integration, on-board debugging, and performance characterization, with attention to a reusable foundation for future RU and DAS products. Given the breadth of the platform, my bid covers an initial 14-day architecture and integration milestone; the complete hardware-validated system should be organized into additional milestones after the exact RF hardware, Versal device, sample rates, and existing IP are reviewed. I am flexible on the milestone structure. Please contact me to discuss details.

Hi, Straight on fit: I'm a strong match for the FPGA implementation side of this (architecture, datapaths, fixed-point DSP, timing closure, verification), not a 5G NR / O-RAN protocol specialist. Relevant hands-on work: Timing closure on Versal, Virtex UltraScale+ and Zynq UltraScale+, including 900 MHz on a VU35P; pipelined datapaths and CDC. Fixed-point FFT/IFFT, NCO/mixer and filter pipelines, checked bit-exactly against Matlab/C/Python models; some OFDM waveform work (not 5G NR specifically). 100G Ethernet MAC/PCS, packet parsers and TCP/IP engines at 644 MHz in production, the closest thing I've built to an eCPRI packet path. SystemVerilog verification, then ILA-based hardware bring-up. Not done: a full O-RAN 7.2x/eCPRI stack, 5G NR Low-PHY, DPD/CFR/beamforming, JESD204. Suggested start: a short first phase with the architecture and resource/latency budget on a candidate Versal device, plus one reference block (FFT/IFFT with CP handling and block-floating-point IQ compression), closed on timing and verified bit-exactly against your model. Do you have a 5G NR reference model, target bandwidths/numerologies, and a candidate Versal device? Are the converter links JESD204? Duong Cong Duc

Hi, I understand the project, and we can approach this as an end-to-end O-RAN 7.2x Low-PHY architecture rather than a collection of isolated FPGA blocks. We can work across eCPRI fronthaul, IQ compression, FFT and IFFT, resource and antenna mapping, MIMO, beamforming, DUC and DDC, channelization, filtering, CFR, DPD, calibration, synchronization, and high-speed ADC and DAC interfaces, with careful attention to fixed-point design, data paths, clock domains, latency, throughput, resource utilization, and timing closure. We can structure the implementation around AMD Xilinx Versal with configurable bandwidths, numerologies, carriers, and 2x2 or 4x4 operation, followed by simulation and hardware validation. Relevant FPGA, RTL, DSP, embedded, and high-speed hardware work is available in our portfolio. 1. Which Versal device and RF or ADC-DAC hardware are currently targeted, or should we determine them from the required bandwidth and interfaces? 2. Do you already have an O-RAN 7.2x fronthaul specification and eCPRI timing requirements that the implementation must follow? 3. Is the first milestone expected to demonstrate the complete fronthaul-to-RF chain on hardware, or should we validate the Low-PHY pipeline incrementally?

The brief forces a choice between custom RTL and HLS for the DSP blocks, and I would go with custom RTL for the core signal processing chain, because it delivers maximum performance and control for real-time requirements, which is what you are trying to do. I would start by mapping the eCPRI protocol onto an FPGA, then build out the channelization and digital filtering stages using Verilog. The FFT/IFFT and cyclic-prefix processing would also be in Verilog, leveraging optimized IP cores where appropriate. For the MIMO processing, precoding, and digital beamforming, I would implement these using a combination of RTL and possibly some optimized HLS for complex matrix operations if a clear performance bottleneck is identified there. The DUC/DDC, interpolation/decimation, and CFR/DPD stages will also be custom RTL. I would use an Arduino for initial testing of interface logic and basic signal generation before integrating into the FPGA. Instead of implementing the gain and phase correction as a separate processing block, I would integrate it directly into the DUC/DDC paths where it has the most impact on the signal quality you are aiming for. What specific constraints are in place for the FPGA clock speeds? Preferred Freelancer here, 5.0 over 10 reviews, no missed deadline and nothing over an agreed price yet. I need the detailed specifications for the ADC/DAC interfaces.

Hello, Adam from New Jersey here. You are building a complete, configurable O-RAN 7.2x Low-PHY on AMD Versal, from eCPRI fronthaul through FFT, MIMO, beamforming and DFE to the ADC/DAC interfaces, validated on real hardware. The biggest risk is integration, not any single block: fixed-point formats, clock domains and latency budgets must be set end to end first, or timing closure and debug turn into rework. On large systems I start from a golden reference model and verify every stage against it, so faults are isolated to one block instead of hunted across the whole chain. This is my plan to complete your project. 1. Define architecture, Versal sizing, clock domains, fixed-point formats and latency budget, with a bit-true Python model. 2. Build the fronthaul path: eCPRI, block floating-point IQ decompression, FFT/IFFT, CP, resource and antenna mapping. 3. Add MIMO precoding, beamforming, DUC/DDC, filtering, CFR, DPD and calibration, using AI Engines for heavy DSP. 4. Integrate with ADC/DAC and timing sync, close timing, validate on hardware and report throughput, latency and EVM. Happy to discuss details and suggest the best technical approach. Thanks, Adam.

Hello!⚡ Thank you for posting your Complete 5G Low-PHY FPGA Integration project. A modular O-RAN 7.2x Low-PHY/DFE chain on AMD Versal is exactly the kind of FPGA work I do. I recently integrated an eCPRI fronthaul, BFP IQ decompression and FFT/CP chain on a Xilinx RFSoC with 4×4 antenna mapping. How I'd approach yours: 1. Architecture: Versal device sizing, clock domains, AXI-Stream data paths and latency budget 2. Fronthaul: O-RAN 7.2x eCPRI, BFP IQ compression, timing and PTP sync interface 3. Low-PHY: FFT/IFFT, CP add/remove, resource and antenna mapping, precoding and beamforming 4. DFE: DUC/DDC, channelization, FIR filters, CFR, DPD, gain/phase calibration, multi-carrier 5. Fixed-point MATLAB/Python models, RTL/HLS with Vivado IP, simulation and timing closure 6. Hardware validation with ADC/DAC, ILA debugging, EVM/ACLR results and modular documentation I'll give you a solid digital foundation for your RU and DAS products and make this a success with you. Thanks. Hassan

Hi, there I recently worked on an FPGA-based digital signal-processing platform integrating RTL DSP blocks, high-speed data paths, fixed-point arithmetic, clock-domain handling and hardware validation into one real-time processing chain. The main challenge was achieving timing closure and deterministic latency while connecting multiple DSP stages with different clock domains and throughput requirements. I solved this through pipelined RTL, fixed-point optimization, disciplined CDC handling, resource analysis and simulation-driven integration before hardware validation. I am planning to architect the Versal Low-PHY chain around eCPRI/O-RAN fronthaul, IQ compression, FFT/IFFT, CP processing, MIMO/precoding, DUC/DDC and configurable filtering, with timing and throughput treated as system-level constraints. I offer to integrate and validate the complete datapath, then optimize utilization, latency and timing closure across supported numerologies and carrier configurations. Please share the target Versal device, fronthaul interface requirements and current RTL/IP so I can identify the integration boundaries and validation plan. If I use my previous experience, your project will likely be completed successfully. Please share the current RTL/IP to get started. Thank you

Hello, I am an experienced FPGA/DSP engineer with expertise in real-time 5G NR signal processing, O-RAN 7.2x architectures, high-speed interfaces, and AMD Xilinx FPGA platforms. A key consideration for this project is defining the end-to-end throughput, latency, fixed-point precision, clocking, and resource budgets early so the O-RAN fronthaul, Low-PHY/DFE chain, and RF interfaces operate deterministically as one integrated platform. I have extensive experience with FPGA architecture, RTL/HLS and IP integration, FFT/IFFT, filtering and rate conversion, MIMO/beamforming processing, high-speed data paths, CDC, timing closure, resource optimization, simulation, and hardware-level validation. I can deliver a modular and configurable Low-PHY FPGA architecture with integrated processing blocks, optimized RTL/HLS/IP, simulation and verification, timing/resource reports, hardware validation, debugging support, and complete technical documentation for the selected AMD Xilinx Versal device. What are your target maximum RF bandwidth, carrier count, sample rates, antenna configuration, and required end-to-end latency from the O-RAN 7.2x interface to the ADC/DAC boundary? Thank you,

Hi dear, Building the complete Low-PHY chain requires careful attention to the FPGA data path, especially keeping latency, throughput, and timing performance balanced across the O-RAN processing flow. I developed an FPGA-based signal processing platform for a high-speed communication system, where I optimized RTL data paths, reduced processing latency, and helped move the design from simulation into hardware validation. I can help integrate and optimize the FPGA architecture by first reviewing the system requirements, defining the processing pipeline, implementing and connecting the required RTL/HLS blocks, then validating performance through simulation and hardware testing. I will keep the design modular and configurable so future bandwidth, carrier, and processing updates can be handled without major redesign. Could you confirm which AMD Xilinx Versal device or evaluation platform you are currently targeting? I look forward to discussing your project. Best regards, Louis
