I am a Mechatronic Engineer and I have been working with MATLAB and the Simulink environment for 7 years, I have been working also in SolidWorks for 3 years and I have done a lot of projects similar to yours. The Key in your case is to design the 2WR in the SolidWorks environment and make an Assembly file that we can export to Matlab using the SimMechanics Link, after that, we can implement a PID type controller to control the mobile robot. I have done a similar project before which was a 4 wheel car which I can show you in chat.
