We are building an AI-powered root-cause investigation workspace designed for industrial maintenance and reliability teams. When critical assets (e.g., centrifugal pumps, booster compressors) fail, engineers lose days hunting for evidence scattered across historians (AVEVA PI), DCS/SCADA alarm logs, work order histories (SAP PM / IBM Maximo), and shift notes. We are looking for an experienced Industrial Reliability / Maintenance Engineer to partner with us to review our investigation workflows, test simulated plant failure datasets, and validate our automated evidence collection workspace. You’ll walk through our guided investigation flow, centered on centrifugal pumps, booster compressors, and heat exchangers, and tell me where the logic, data mapping, or user experience falls short of real-world practice. I’ll share time-series data, alarm storms, and maintenance histories; you replicate how you would normally investigate the event, compare that to what the workspace serves up, and flag any missing context or misleading correlations. Deliverables • Written review outlining gaps, false positives/negatives, and improvement suggestions • Marked-up screenshots or screen recordings highlighting issues in the UI/UX • A ranked list of additional data signals or reliability KPIs you would require before signing off on an RCFA Acceptance criteria Your feedback should be actionable, reference the exact tag names or work-order fields involved, and be detailed enough that a developer can implement changes without follow-up. If you’ve chased bad actors across PI tags, SCADA logs, or backlog in Maximo and know how a real plant team thinks under pressure, I’d love your critical eye.

Having integrated various SCADA, DCS, and HMI systems before and been involved in robust Firmware Development for IoT devices, I am well-versed in handling the very data sources that your project aims to optimize. Beyond having a deep understanding of tags like AVEVA PI and work order fields such as SAP PM / IBM Maximo - which would be valuable for identifying gaps and improving your workspace's UI/UX - I also bring with me a knack for problem-solving and an eye for minute details, garnered from extensive embedded system design work. As an experienced freelancer confident in delivering highly detailed feedback, you can rest assured that my actionable suggestions will enhance your investigation workflows. My rankings of additional data signals or reliability KPIs will be grounded in real-world practice and will arm you with the insights needed to make informed decisions about signing off on RCFA. Lets's team up to make your workspace all the more equipped to address the hard-hitting challenges of industrial maintenance and reliability.

Hi, I’m a Mechanical/Mechatronics & Automation Engineer with 5+ years of experience working with industrial machinery, PLC/SCADA systems, sensors, alarms, equipment failures, and troubleshooting. My experience includes Siemens S7-1200/1500, TIA Portal, WinCC, OPC UA, industrial sensors, motor/drive systems, and machine diagnostics. I’ve worked on systems where the real challenge is connecting machine behavior, alarms, sensor data and maintenance history to identify the actual failure mechanism rather than simply finding correlations. For your workspace, I can: - Replicate the investigation process using your simulated plant failure datasets. - Review time-series trends, alarm sequences and operating conditions. - Evaluate whether the proposed evidence supports or contradicts the suggested root cause. - Identify missing signals, tags, alarm context and maintenance information. - Review pump, compressor and heat-exchanger investigation workflows. - Flag false positives, false negatives and misleading correlations. - Provide marked-up screenshots and actionable developer-level feedback. - Build a ranked list of additional reliability signals/KPIs required for RCFA. I will reference the exact tag names, timestamps, alarm events and work-order fields in my findings so your developers can implement the changes without additional interpretation. Best regards,

My relevant experience is listed under Maintenance & Repair Engineer at Form Foam Sunger (October 2013-May 2016): diagnosing equipment faults, coordinating daily maintenance work orders and using root-cause analysis for recurring problems. I now work in mechanical building systems and technical documentation. I am offering a mechanical maintenance workflow review of your supplied simulated cases, rather than software administration or implementation of PI, SAP or Maximo integrations. For one initial incident, I would compare the displayed evidence with the supplied chronology, document missing context and flag conclusions that are not supported by the records. You would receive a concise findings report, annotated screenshots and prioritised requests for additional signals. Each finding would cite the actual tag or work-order field from your dataset and explain the expected behaviour so your developer can act on it. The review would distinguish mechanical observations from questions requiring a plant operator or platform specialist. My rate is USD 21/hour. I suggest agreeing a 5-hour first-case review to establish fit before expanding to the full pilot. Can you share a sample incident and the expected review depth? Gokay

The risk is siloed data and the time lost hunting evidence across AVEVA PI, alarm logs, SAP PM, and shift notes. I'll build out the automated evidence collection for centrifugal pumps, booster compressors, and heat exchangers, mapping PI historian data and SCADA alarms directly into the investigation workspace. You will see the root-cause analysis data appear as you step through the guided investigation flow. Where exactly do you store the shift notes data that needs to be ingested? I need your confirmation to start building the data mapping. This is backed by a 5.0 rating across 10 reviews on here and Preferred Freelancer status.

TOOLS/METHODS: RCFA facilitation (5-Whys, Ishikawa, time-line reconstruction), reliability/KPI mapping, PI-tag evidence tracing, DCS/SCADA alarm forensics, SAP PM/Maximo work-order field audits, UI workflow reviews with annotated screen marks, and failure-dataset replay/simulation. I’ll use a structured evidence matrix (tag→event→work order→resolution) to test your AI evidence collection against how teams actually investigate centrifugal pumps, booster compressors, and heat exchangers under pressure. I’ll walk your guided flow using your time-series, alarm storms, and maintenance histories, then replicate a real shift’s troubleshooting path: identify the first credible deviation, separate alarms from root causes, and validate correlation logic (e.g., pump run status vs vibration/current/temperatures; compressor suction/discharge pressure swings; exchanger fouling indicators).

✅ Nice to meet you ✅ I can review your AI-powered root-cause investigation workspace from the perspective of practical industrial maintenance and reliability workflows. I’ll work through the simulated failures as an engineer would in the field, tracing the available historian data, alarms, maintenance records, and shift information before comparing the investigation path with what your platform produces. I’ll specifically look for missing evidence, incorrect data mappings, misleading correlations, false positives or negatives, and workflow steps that could slow down an actual RCFA. I can also review centrifugal pump, compressor, and heat-exchanger scenarios and identify the additional tags, work-order fields, alarms, operating conditions, and reliability KPIs needed to support a defensible investigation. The final review will be actionable for your development team, with references to the relevant tag names and fields, marked-up UI feedback, and a prioritized list of recommended improvements. My goal would be to provide practical feedback that reflects how plant reliability teams actually investigate failures rather than simply reviewing the interface from a software perspective.
