Hi There, There are various ways to generate reports from MSSQL server. 1)Reporting Services 2)create frontend for reports 3)SQL agent to run jobs and send data in email. Pdf not supported. Do you want to create a designer where you can select the tables and columns or you have a static report format to work upon? We can use SQL Report builder tool to generate N no of reports: 1. We can generate data driven report 2. We can use subscription for some reports if the data is very huge and not able to generate on the fly. 3. Report builder can be connected with different sources like Oracle, MySQL, Access and SQL Server. 4. Once report will be designed then we can export the report data into different format like excel, pdf, csv and notepad. 5. We can generate N no of graphical reports. Generating the report is not a big task but there are many things which we need to make it into consideration before designing of the report: 1. What is the growth of the data into your database which will directly impact on the report. If the growth of the data is very huge then we can create some plan to purge the data or we can create a data warehouse. which can be used as a backend from report. 2. If the data growth is normal then we directly connect to OLTP databases. 3. Some of the reports consist confidential data.
