We want to control an actuator from a 10K pot. We plan to mount a hall sensor on the side of the actuator motor so it will give pulses. We will need fine tune buttons for Left/Right adjustments of the centre point. (Also used for calibration of the system ).

How we want the system to work:

1. A full stroke of the actuator takes about 7 Sec. (200mm/30mm pr sec= 6,6S. )

2. Normal operation.

When powering up, the system shall read the position of the 10K pot and drive the actuator to the corresponding position. (Also consider to increase the motor speed when the pot position is far away from the actuator position OR full speed always).

3. The operator shall be able to use the fine tune buttons any time to drive the actuator slightly left/right to correct position. ( Especially used to correct Centre point when the pot is in centre position. (Default centre 100mm on the actuator ). Always save after adjustments. Fine tune will be able to tune -/+ 20%.

4. When powering off, drive the actuator back to park position, fully inn (0mm).

Suggested initial calibration.

Enter calibration hold ENTER 10 seconds.

1. Drive the actuator with the left/right buttons fully from one side to the other.

2. Use a third ENTER button to tell the system where the end positions are and how many pulses a full stroke generates.

3. Hold 10S on Enter to exit.

Planned Hardware:

• Linear actuator 12V 5A 200mm. Moves 30mm/s.

• BTS 7960 H-Bridge dual PWM 25 KHz.

• Arduino Nano controller?

• Hall sensor. Y3144

• Two impulse switches. Left/right fine tune. One ENTER switch.

• 10K steering pot.

• Dipswitch 2 way, to select between Log or Lin steering pot.

I have attached a semantics of how it is connected. On many of output/input on the Arduino I have just “?” so you can decide what you want to use.
