Programming for a content management tool and search function
## Deliverables
We’re looking for a server-side software application. Here’s what’s necessary: XYZ Company wants a website that has a "Job Listings" section that will be accessible by the general public. XYZ Company wants a select handful of their employees to be able to update this section to make changes, additions and deletions. For security reasons, the individuals who will do the updating will need to login with a password. These individuals are not familiar with HTML programming. They need to be able to make alterations in an extremely simple (text-only) sort of way, and hit a "Submit" button. The application would then automatically file the new or revised HTML page in the appropriate location on the server, and update the links on the originating HTML page. We also need a way to delete old listings. We also need a search function among the HTML "Job Listing" pages. Not a sophisticated search by fields ??" but only a simple keyword search. We don’t anticipate an enormous number of "Job Listing" pages…maybe as few as 50 or as many as 200. This suggests to us that we may not need a database ??" but rather, the HTML pages can reside "loose" in a folder on the server, where they will wait to be called up. We think this can be done with a CGI script. Perhaps there’s one that already exists that just needs modification. Or maybe it needs to be written. We’re looking for your expertise. We envision the following scenario, but we’re open to other suggestions: Perhaps the XYZ employee could open a special HTML page that is not available to the general public. Perhaps they need to log-in with a password in order to open this page. The HTML page is a form that needs to be filled out (e.g. fields for specific types of content such as title, job description, etc.). They enter the appropriate information and hit a "submit" button. This would automatically spawn a new HTML page that would be the new job listing, and would also update the link on the public website, and would also store the new pages in the appropriate locations on the server. The script would also need to be capable of deleting (on command) obsolete job listings.
## Platform
Not sure. It's for a corporate web site that will be hosted by a mainstream ISP, so it's probably sort of standard.
## Deadline information
I need pricing information by 8/28/02 by 10 am EST. The "deadline" above states a later time in the day, but I really need the pricing info earlier!!!! However the actual work will occur in the next several weeks (by mid September).
