Small "R" Programming

Job Description:
I have an existing "R" package that gets data from a JSON API. The package uses jsonlite and works well but I want to make some small changes to
I need 3 small changes:
1). It currently uses HTTP only. I need it to support https and http using a ".setapiserver". command in the package to name the protocol and server address to use.
2). Add support for JSMin to strip comments from JSON ( lines that begin with "//")
3). Save the URL in a configuration file to save protocol (http or https) and API address. File can be stored with package and read into variable as needed.
If you have Python experience would be great too
