The "raw data" will be mined by you from the US Dept. of Educations website at [login to view URL] The specific data you will mine is 5000 non tenured teachers (non tenured teachers means new teachers with less than 3 years of classroom teaching experience) from title 9 schools (title 9 schools means low income schools that receive free/reduced lunch program). 2500 of non-tenured teachers will have classroom management training (from their employer/school district) and the remaining 2500 non tenured teachers who have not received the classroom management training. Then the student behaviors (suspensions/expulsions) of those 5000 non tenured teachers’ schools will be mined to see if there is a behavior difference between both groups of nontenured teachers. To get variables for analysis you select cases under Data in SPSS set NEWTCH Variable as option 1 and SCHLEVEL as option 1. Use Analyze option in SPSS to run descriptive statistics and compare means option for ANOVA. variable FO557 for classroom management training. Here is a summary of the plan for the project: The purpose of this quantitative research study is to examine what degree a relationship exists between classroom management training of new non-tenured teachers in relation to the number of student suspensions or expulsions in the classroom for non-tenured teachers (new teachers). The Population is new teachers (non-tenured) and students from the US Department of Education data archive in the 2015-16 school year. Population sample size is 5000 non-tenured teachers and is the study data that will be collected from the US Department of Education. Specific data collected will be from Title 9 elementary schools receiving free/reduced lunch programs and consist of classroom management training records of non-tenured teachers as well as reports of student suspension/expulsion from same title 9 schools. The behavior records maybe retrieved from school counselor or school administrator behavior data.
