How to Deposit Funds to Your Account

In order to pay freelancers, upgrade projects and contests, and pay for site fees (e.g. project fees and membership fees), employers need to have funds available in their accounts. On the other hand, freelancers may wish to upgrade their memberships or pay for exams. For freelancers who have yet to earn through the site, these can only be done by making a deposit.

Making a deposit means putting funds on your account. Selecting the deposit option will prompt you to transfer funds from your payment source to your account, not the other way around.


Follow these steps in making a deposit:

First, mouse over your balance on top of your page, and select Deposit Funds.


Next, select your payment method on the Deposit Funds page.

You can choose from Credit Card, PayPal, or Skrill. For more payment method options, you can click the More Options dropdown menu and choose from WebMoney, iDEAL, SOFORT, Giropay, Bancontact, Interac, Dotpay, Alipay, UnionPay, Boleto Bancario.


Lastly, fill out the required details of the payment and confirm your deposit. 


Things to take note of:

  • The minimum deposit amount is $1 USD or its equivalent in other currencies (shown on the deposit page).

  • Deposit fees vary depending on the payment method, location, and currency selected.

  • Depending on the method that you wish to use, certain currencies may be unavailable.

  • Depending on your location, certain payment methods may be unavailable.

  • Bank Deposit is the method to be used for direct deposits (local bank transfer) or wire transfers (international bank transfers). There is no processing fee for direct deposits while a fixed fee of $15 (or the corresponding deposit currency) is taken for wire transfers. It will take 2-5 business days for the deposit to reflect on your account balance. 

  • When depositing via PayPal with a linked bank account, it will take 5-7 business days for the funds to reflect on your account balance. This is because the deposit will have to be processed as an eCheck from PayPal’s end first.


Debit Cards

Debit cards and credit cards work for deposit transactions. As long as your card has a MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Delta Online, Visa Electron, or JCB logo, you should be able to use it as your payment method.


Billing Agreement

Making a deposit using your card, your PayPal account, or your Skrill account will activate a billing agreement. This authorizes the system to automatically transfer funds from your payment method to your account whenever your account balance is insufficient to cover membership fees, project fees and other site fees, and Milestone Payments. This way, you will no longer have to manually deposit funds to your account for payments.
