Messaging my freelancers

If you are unable to message your freelancer, here are some possible reasons.

You may chat with freelancers via the following means:

Chat box

For Open projects:

  1. Go to the Proposals tab of the project page.
  2. Click the Chat button next to the bid of the freelancer that you wish to chat with.

You can initiate chat conversations with bidders on your projects. On the other hand, bidders can only send you messages if you initiate a conversation first, or if you award them a project.

For In-Progress projects:

  1. Go to the Payments tab of the project page.
  2. Click the Chat button below your freelancer’s display name on the top part of the project page.

Chat is equipped with text, audio, and video call functions to facilitate a smooth communication process. These options will be visible if you and the freelancer are online at the same time.

Only the awarded freelancers can continue messaging you. Bidders will be able to message you if you send them a message first after the project is awarded.

From your Contacts list:

Users you have previously worked with are automatically added to your contact list. Click the name of the user you wish to chat with for the chat box to appear.

Inbox

All message threads are kept in the Inbox. Click a user's name from your Contacts list to open your conversation with the user. You may also click the messages iconmessages_ico.pngfrom the main menu, and click View All.

You can also search using a keyword to look for a message thread.

Note: Sent messages cannot be unsent or removed from the recipient’s Inbox or chat window.

When sending a message, you can also use the speech to text feature in the chat box or inbox. You will see this microphone icon  in the text field.

Tapping the mic button once will enable any language/English to English translation, while tapping the mic button twice will enable native language transcription.
