Electrical Engineer

Hello, I am a senior undergraduate electrical engineering student at the University of Alberta (UofA) that is passionate about renewable energy, power electronics, machine learning, and data science. My skills are very diverse as I love being involved across several fields. I have worked at the Renewable Energy Lab (REL) at Prince Sultan University (PSU) for a year. During this time, I was introduced to renewable energy and power electronics. I assisted in the design of several DC-DC converters through Simulink simulation and experimental design. I have already published one conference paper regarding the design of a new DC-DC converter circuit topology to applied within electric vehicles (EV) at the IEEE 3rd Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (IEEE GPECOM2021). The paper won the Best Presentation Award for its novel contribution and potential applicability. There have been more power electronics conference papers authored by myself and the REL team and are in the process of being published. I am still in contact with the REL team and I am currently assisting in the writing of two journal papers also related to power electronics circuit design. As such, I have become very good with Simulink simulation, power electronics circuit design, and research writing through my experience with REL. In my spare time over March - April 2022, I worked with a UofA student in chemical engineering in order to design a model of a portable battery EV charger on Simscape in Simulink. I worked on the electrical modelling of EV and he designed the thermal model. We both worked together to design the control system. The model was submitted for an open competition organized by Simulink and was approved by a senior researcher at MathWorks. I am a passionate person who loves new experiences and challenges. I have a very large skillset that I can use to provide you the best of services.

Power Electronics Design Research Intern

Worked as a power electronics intern. During those 8 months, I heavily studied the theory behind power electronics (specifically DC-DC converters) at the graduate level. I developed various different DC-DC converters on Simulink and implemented them though the FPGA-based Typhoon HIL device. I wrote 3 conferences and one journal based on those converters I developed. A lot the work I helped develop has strong applications in renewable energy.

Primary-Switched-Inductance Single-Ended Converter for E-Vehicles Applications

2021 3rd Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)
This paper proposes a new voltage boosting DC-DC converter that can be applied in battery electric vehicles. The structure of the proposed converter is based around the combination of the the switched-inductor and SEPIC topologies. This paper won the best presentation award (see Honors Awards section). I helped heavily with the simulation of the proposed converter on Simulink to confirm that such a converter can be implemented and can be properly applied onto electric vehicles.
