Hello, I'm Terrance Orletsky, a solopreneur software and IT consultant, website/app developer, and PHP/JS coder, working remotely from a small town in rural Alberta, Canada. My passion is utilizing my technical expertise to realize my clients' visions, creating custom WordPress plugins and themes, debugging existing products, and developing full-stack JavaScript applications. I strive to consistently deliver professional, high-quality IT solutions for clients across Canada, the USA, and internationally. Commensurate to my 18 years of WordPress experience, my standard rate is $80 per hour. With my expertise and the use of AI tools, I can accomplish at least 3 (often 4 or 5) times the amount of work per hour as a junior developer could, and roughly twice as much (or more) as an intermediate developer. At Earthman Media, I recognize the importance of strong client relationships for achieving top-quality results. With my two decades of software and web development experience, I'm ready to tackle any challenge and go the extra mile to ensure my clients' satisfaction. A happy customer is the indicator of my success, and it always starts with a strong, clear vision, fueled by experience, hard work, and passion. Continuous success on your project requires my clear and precise communication, excellent planning, agile strategies, and using the best tools for the job. If you choose to work with me on your project, I will review your needs, setup project management tools as you need them, and guide you through the entire project lifecycle, culminating with the successful delivery of your new digital assets

I was recruited for this project by Domain7 to assist a small team of two developers and one PO through the completion and launch of a WordPress multi-site system to allow hundreds of schools to manage the design and content for their individual WP sites internally.

In this project, I also developed multiple custom components for the Gutenberg editor, using ACF and PHP, and I performed backend PHP coding and customization of the WordPress wp-admin panel to suit bespoke client needs for role-based use and access.

Additional to my coding and data migration responsibilities, I developed and recorded a series of in-depth professional-grade tutorial videos for client-facing training.

In this role I also provided screencast training materials and voice overs.

I continue to provide maintenance and updates.

In this role, I led a team of junior developers in the development of an MVP site, utilizing a headless WordPress API and micro-frontend architecture. I was responsible for overseeing the conversion of Vue.JS/nuxt components into bundled esm modules for use in the frontend UI, and setting up AWS infrastructure to manage CI automated deployments of the components to the development and production sites.

In addition to a woocommerce headless API powered by WordPess, I set up deployments for static version(s) of the WordPress frontend UI and extensively customized the WordPress wp-admin panel and access capabilities to match bespoke client needs for role-based use.

As a team lead, I performed code review for both the frontend and backend development, and also did a significant amount of PHP coding for the API endpoints and integrations with Woocommerce and other plugins, as well as frontend development in VueJS with SASS and Bootstrap.

In this project, I had the chance to work on some challenging tasks. One of them was to develop bespoke Gutenberg block components that matched, pixel-to-pixel, the Figma design specifications provided by the design lead at Coradine, and then re-work the entire theme to match the new design specifications.

During this project term, I also setup infrastructure for publishing the WordPress site to a static build for the production site, which required both configuring "Simply Static" and the site’s html output extensively using custom coding, hooks and filters. I set up the hosting infrastructure for the new static build(s) on Coradine's hosting service provider, and then implemented CI deployments of the static builds to test and production domains using Github actions and pipelines.

During the overhaul of the WordPress theme, I developed a (S)CSS design palette to match the specifications provided and made extensive SCSS customizations for all pages.

In this project I was the main programmer and led a team to integrate a video portal into Wetpaint.com's WordPress site, focusing on JW platform-hosted streaming and live broadcasts. My role extended to diagnosing and fixing site issues, managing Scrum-style standups and sprints for another IT asset's refactoring. I developed a prototype "hybrid" WordPress/javascript theme for live and on-demand streaming, integrated with JW platform API.

Over the past 15 years, I have coded in dozens of programming languages and frameworks, developed 60+ website projects, ranging from "Ma and Pa" business card sites to international multi-site platforms, from Joomla to WordPress to Drupal, and, most recently, created several bespoke web apps using WordPress and AngularJS. In 2005, I discovered WordPress and, since then, have focused the majority of my development work around the WordPress ecosystem. Further details available upon request
