I am looking for freelance opportunities in writing, higher education, or research. I have recently completed a PhD at Curtin University, where I have taught for five years as a tutor in the Internet Studies, Communications, and Engineering departments. My research interests include urban studies and placemaking, geolocation, narrative identity construction, embodiment, phenomenology and postmodern philosophy, social networking and blogging. I also have a first-class honours degree in English from the University of Western Australia, where I also majored in Political Science.
In addition to topics covered in my formal research practice, I have a keen interest in international relations, social justice, sustainability and environmental issues, literature (particularly Australian, American: 1900-1960, and Indian literature), and tourism (particularly independent travel and sustainable/eco-tourism).
I have over ten years experience as a blogger and have been Freshly Pressed by Wordpress. I am soon to complete a Masters of International Journalism at the University of Western Australia, and have been trained in writing for newspapers, online news, and magazines. I also have a strong familiarity with media law and ethics.
I have presented at conferences at Oxford University and Curtin University. I am able to prepare engaging material for conferences, meetings, and classroom teaching, as well as supporting material (such as handouts, Prezi displays, and PowerPoint presentations).
