Volunteerism is defined as an act of taking part or doing something freely without expecting anything in return or basically without being paid.
It has been a very common thing among us to hear about volunteerism as there is quite a huge number of volunteering organisations we have heard about or even some of us might have been involved in. But the sad part here is that there are also people who actually don’t bother to know anything about it and think that being a volunteer is a waste of time. Well, what do we actually get out of volunteering? We must first understand and know the benefits of it before even making a blind conclusion. First and foremost, volunteering is a good way of improving our communication skills as well as to brush up our confidence level as we tend meet a lot of new people when we volunteer. Volunteering brings together a diverse range of people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Why are we so scared of talking about sex? What kind of twisted logic drives some of our parents, teachers, and education ministers to protect children from sex education, and perpetuate the vicious cycle of cultural taboo and dangerous misinformation? There are numerous misconceptions surrounding sex education in Malaysia. Sexuality is broader than sexual activity. It encompasses all the things that make us who we are. Shaped by culture, history, values, education and experience, our sexuality influences our views of individuality, family, parenthood, and community. From a young age, children are exposed to sexual imagery and language in their environment, and their bodies are experiencing and developing sexual responsiveness. Their curiosity is inevitable, and the answers they get should clarify — not confuse — the issues for them.

Sex education encourages teens to have sex?

THE media is such an important part of our life that its role and contributions cannot be ignored. It informs, educates and entertains people. More importantly, it helps to reform, reshape and strengthen society. The term “first person” refers to the position of someone who sees, hears and writes his views. Therefore, it is important to study the roles and effects of first-person media, especially the younger generation. This leads to questions, such as how reliable is the information and how much of what the narrator understands is accurate? Producing first-hand media content is an advantage for businesses as it establishes a personal connection and emotional appeal with readers. First-encounter media is powerful and has valuable characteristics in terms of presence and authenticity. When a news report is written from a first-person perspective, it creates an active experience and a sense of presence that make the content relatable. Besides, it also creates a sense of authenticity.

This study suggests that H. formicarum leaves have potency as a new source of antioxidant and anticancer agents, especially for cervical cancer. However, further study to separate the bioactive compounds of the extract and by using different cell lines is required to discover the potential of H. formicarum leaves as antioxidant and anticancer agents.

Potency of H. tiliaceus leaves as antioxidant and anticancer agents against MCF-7 cells

IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering

Results revealed that H. tiliaceus leaves exhibited strong DPPH free radical scavenging and cytotoxic activities against MCF-7. Morphological features showed the cells were put to death by both early and late apoptosis. Our results found that H. tiliaceus leaves have potency as antioxidant and anticancer agents against MCF-7 cells.

Oriental Journal of Chemistry

This study suggests that H. formicarum leaves have potency as a new source of antioxidant and anticancer agents, especially for cervical cancer.
