As we waited, a barking deer approached very slowly, alert and its fear fully visible. As it quenched its thirst, we held our breaths and the only sound heard was the muffl ed sound of camera shutters. Then we spotted two spotted deer doe with a fawn. As the mother guided her little one to the water and her companion kept a watchful eye, we kept our Canons firing in unison, till an alert call from a sambar forced us to rush to another watering hole.
