One might say I fell into my passion for Dry Eye by accident, by sheer need, and by divine calling.

This May marks my 10th anniversary of practicing as a Doctor of Optometry. Inspired by faith-based integrity, my practice philosophy has always been to approach each person as an individual with distinct needs, knowing that if I asked enough of the right questions and remained diligent in thorough exam techniques, the reason someone was experiencing a certain set of symptoms would always come to light. Being able to determine the root cause of a person’s problems, and then explain that cause in such a way so that they can gain knowledge about their health, understanding of what to expect, and peace about the process allows that person to become their own best advocate for their vision and eye health. That is my most favorite part about what I do --educate, empower and heal--and through this process I love that I get to help people to become more comfortable, functional, efficient and effective in their daily lives.

So, after 10 years of practicing in the Arizona desert, I was surprised to find the one concern I was seeing addressed the least, was the condition I was seeing the most: Dry Eye Disease. Dry Eye is a term used to describe an imbalance in the tear layer, inflammation of the front surface of the eyes and lids, and the resulting symptoms experienced due to both. Patients with mild to moderate symptoms of dry eye often experience sensations of: dryness, irritation, burning, stinging, grittiness, redness, excessive watering, light sensitivity, and the need to blink to see more clearly. Patients with moderate to severe Dry Eye Disease also experience these symptoms, but more intensely, and on a constant daily basis such that they often need to stop doing certain activities, and can even have substantial changes in their vision. This is because Dry Eye Disease is inflammatory in nature and if left unchecked, inflammation causes tissue changes and destruction.

Seeing the dire needs of my patients: to determine the cause of their symptoms, to find empathy for their frustrations in lack of healing, and to find relief from treatments that actually work, became my mission and the driving force behind what I do every day. After four years of monitoring healing trends, working with hundreds of patients with Dry Eye Disease, hours of reading clinical studies, pursuing additional education, and helping to set up and run three Dry Eye Clinics across the Valley, I am excited to open a new Dry Eye practice because of what I will now be able to do for those patients who really need it. IndividualEyes Dry Eye Center is focused on creating a new experience for patients suffering from Dry Eye Disease by providing compassionate, comprehensive, cutting-edge care that takes the whole person into account, and that personalizes treatment plans based on the needs of each individual.

IndivudalEyes will never be just a practice location, it is a brand that I am building that that embodies the essence and the heart of my practice philosophy. So for this project I am looking for help to capture the heart of my company by creating the visual aspect of my brand and putting it into design form. This is where I need your help and creativity. I need: 1) A company logo, 2) a company symbol or icon. I also need 3) a near exact replica of the uploaded image of the “Eye in the Desert”, close enough to have the same color scheme but different enough to not get me in trouble with copywrite law. I am looking for something simple, creative, unique, meaningful and that conveys my message of hope and healing easily to my patients. I like contemporary, stylish, clean lines, clever, with a touch of class. My brand color palate is: turquoise & teal tones, neutral beiges, black and white. I am so excited to see what you come up with, and humbly appreciate your consideration in helping me to build my brand!
