Project Description:

We are looking for a logo design for NASA Johnson Space Center’s makerspace: the Innovation and Design Center (IDC)

The goal of this project is to develop a graphic that represents the IDC’s makerspace’s goals:
a) Develop our workforce through hands-on training and direct experience with machine shop tools and design practices
b) Accelerate our projects with a free onsite agile capability for the fabrication and assembly of prototypes, mockups, ground support equipment, and non-critical flight projects, and volunteer projects
c) Foster innovation culture by providing an inviting space for employees to learn, collaborate, create and innovate
The graphic will be used on presentations, websites, shirts, email signatures, stickers, badges, and other items.

Team Background:
The Innovation Design Center (IDC) is a makerspace at JSC where the workforce can meet and conduct hands-on innovative design, fabrication, evaluation and testing of ideas and concepts that are relevant to NASA’s mission.

Requirements:
Logo design may portray the themes of innovation, makerspace / sandbox at NASA / JSC. Design elements may incorporate makerspace themes such as: 3d Printers, Drill presses, Mills, Lathes, etc. May also play on the “SPACE” element of makerSPACE

Visual requirements:

1.1 The logo should represent the visual identity of Innovation Design Center. Emphasis should be placed on visual themes such as: makerspace, machine Shop, 3d Printers, and Innovation. Secondary emphasis may include themes such as NASA and spaceflight.
1.2 The logo shall maintain brand consistency with the “BDTIO Brand Presentation” which is attached.
1.2.1 Key areas of consistency shall include color palette and typography
1.3 The overall design should be minimal, clean, and uncluttered and able to be utilized across a variety of media use cases including websites, banners, printouts, icons, machined coins.
1.4 Logo variations that cover varying use cases are highly desired. Examples Include:
1.4.1 Logo Versions designed for both light and dark backgrounds.
1.4.2 Text and Textless Logo Versions - Including “Innovation Design Center” and/or “IDC” and/or JSC MakerSPACE if they are not an element of the logo design.
1.4.3 Full and Minimal Logo Versions (For icons and machined coins).
1.4.4 Full-Color and Monochrome Version

Source File Requirements

1.5 Logos should be submitted as SVG files with transparent background.
1.6 Submissions should also include a 1024x1024 version of the graphic in JPG or PNG in RGB color mode at 72 dpi.
1.7 Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files. Note that PSDs saved as EPS files are not true vector/scalable files and will not be accepted.
1.8 The files must also be able to be converted into a .stp or .dxf file
1.9 All fonts (and operating systems) must be listed in a text file within your Submission Zip file. Include the name of the font and a link to where it can be downloaded/purchased. DO NOT include any font files in your submission or source files.

Restrictions

2.0 The NASA insignia or other NASA logos cannot be used as any part of your submission.
2.1 Stock Imagery Requirements: Stock imagery is not allowed in this contest, and all elements of the graphics must be of original design.
