I dont know how to explain this but, my inventory is organized so the way oscommerce is forcing me to handle the attributes is going to ruin everything.
This is my dillemma:
I have lamp shades i want to sell on oscommerce.
They are modeled in sets, and in that set there are a range of colors that a customer can order them.
EX: BS-701-12 - i want that to be the base product.
and then under that there wil be attributes. the colors...liek beige, black, etc.
My inventroy will get screwed up if i use the regular attributes. Is there anyway oscommerce can ercognize the words black, beige, etc and when the customer chooses it and automatically adds it to the end of that base model number.
So if a customer wants the shade BS-701-12 in the color black oscommerce will spit it out so my sales end can mark, (invoice) and read it as BS-701-12BLK....
Also that spitted info will work with osc invoice and packing list and the orders system.
I need it badly

It is great from you. Oscom itself uses the product attribute info about the same way you described by appending to the base model. The rest of your problem is quite straight. thaks ramgopal
