Assignment

The government maintains a data file on all cars and trucks. The file contains a lot of

inforamation for vehicle including the make and model, the vehicle type, the type of fuel, and

the city and highway miles per gallon. The information in the file is stored in CSV format where

the all the information for each vehicle is stored on a single line (a record) and the information

for that vehicle (the fields) are seperated by commas (CSV = Comma Seperated Values).

The fields we are interested in for this assignment is Make (47), Model (48),

Fuel Type (32), Hiway MPG (35) and City MPG (5), and Vehilce Type (63)

Write a program that reads the information from this file and

- creates a list of unique Makes for Vehicles with a fuel type that contains

"Gasoline" and the vehicle type that contains "Cars"

-determines the Make, Model, and City and Hiway MPG for the "Gasoline" "Cars"

that have the lowest Hiway MPG and the lowest City MPG.

Your program should print the list of the unique Makes (sorted ascending) as well as

the make, model and MPG for the vehicles with the lowest Hiway and City MPG.

Notes:

-your program should prompt the user to enter the name of the input file that

contains the EPA data. Continue to prompt the user for a file name until a valid file

name is entered opened. (requires a try/except suite)

- The CSV containing the data is attached to this assignment on Blackboard. The data

dictionary that describes each field is also attached, but only FYI as I have given

you the location of each field above. Make, field 47 in each record, would be index

46 if read into a list (remember that indexes start at 0 !)

- The first line of the CSV file are column headers and should be ignored

- You can place all of your code in a main() function, although you'll be asked to

make a few additional functions in a future assignment
