Virtual Item Search Engine & Marketplace [GAME WEBSITE]

The website will serve a few primary functions.

1. SEARCH ENGINE

2. USER ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

3. E-COMMERCE STORE FRONT (Two Separate Inventories. One for the entire video game that is automatically managed externally and one for the store, managed by the website)

Function #1: Search Engine

A full-text + advanced properties search engine for a virtual item database that exists within the game.

This will have an inventory of ALL items in the game, not items specifically owned by the website. We will

call this a "game inventory".

- The search engine will be featured as the "main page" of the website

- Guests or Registerd Users may utilize the search engine

- All search results must be displayed via Ajax (No posts with page refreshes)

- Search results displayed will also require the use of the ImageResizer package (NUGET) for cropping images

- Search results will include functions such as "Add to Cart" and "Details" pages. The "Item Detail" page will be

a generated page.

- The item "description" are generated from Localization keys in the database for multi-language support. The game crawler

client is written in C# and I can provide code to describe this (it is very simple)

Function #2: Registered User Management System

Each virtual item within the "Game Inventory" is owned by a "Vendor". A table of all vendors will be available

in the database.

On the website, users will have the ability to claim ownership of the vendor. Once approved by an administrator,

they will be able to do various functions :

1. Look at item and price history

2. Add custom messages to be displayed on the generated "Vendor Details" or "Item Details" pages as well as the main

search results page.

3. Add custom "advertisements" on the front page of the website (simple ShoutBox-type system)

4. "Watch" specific items with e-mail alerts (we can talk about this functionality)

Users must be able to register by e-mail address/password or by Facebook.

Function #3: E-Commerce Store

A store front to purchase virtual items, with a separate "Store Inventory". Users will have the ability to

either purchase items from the separate "Store Inventory" or the "Game Inventory" for an in-game currency

conversion to USD$

1. Must include a system to add / delete / modify items to the "Store Inventory"

2. Must include a system to add / delete / modify items in the "Game Inventory"

3. Must include a way to modify the global conversion rate of in-game currency to USD$

Registered users should have access to order history and perhaps a "rewards system" implementation. We can talk

about this.

Payments can be made through [login to view URL], Moneypaks or Western Union. We can talk about this too.

DATABASE LAYOUT:

Here is a preliminary design of the database layout [login to view URL] (*** THIS WILL CHANGE SLIGHTLY)

"Shard" is game server the vendor and item is housed on.

"Vendor" is the IN-GAME, player-owned vendor that owns the virtual item

"Item" is the actual virtual item

"Cliloc" is the "client localization" description

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:

If the website is done well, a follow-up opportunity for a simple user-run "auction" system will follow.
