I have a simple Arduino GPS Speedometer for a small boat (a Laser dinghy) that I'm housing in a tupperware container, but the display is hard to read if off-center, and I use a lot of duct tape attaching it to the boat. I'd like a design for a waterproof way of attaching/detaching an enclosure to the boat so it is easy to read from both sides of the boat, and won't come loose if wet.
I'm currently attaching my makeshift enclosure (a 15cm X 15cm X 5cm food container) to the deck with tape. Please see the attached picture of approximately where the enclosure must be positioned. The display I'm using is the adafruit 7-segment (https://www.adafruit.com/product/879), which is hard to read in direct light (facing upwards), but readable if positioned horizontally. Attaching to the mast (approx 6cm diameter) or boom (slightly less) could be a good solution, however it can't obstruct any of the ropes in the area (visible in the attached picture).
I'm looking for a 3d-printable design that can be attached to the boat on one side, and to the enclosure on the other. It can be hot-glued to the enclosure, but can't be permanently attached to the boat.
* I've attached a picture of various windvanes, and how they are attached to a laser mast. This solution could be similar, but my enclosure is much larger/heavier *
