I am a life coach I need someone to make a group presentation / training that runs for about 3 hours. The topic is Vicarious Trauma & Burnout for working in emergency services (eg. police, paramedics, ED staff, fire-fighters. I wish to deliver different training to staff and to the managers. Hence some of the content can be the same, but when it comes to the research, I need different figures for staff, and different figures for managers and team leaders. I want the training to also have some interactive group tasks in it. Proposed content is: Describe the concepts and symptoms of occupational stress, burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious traumatisation Advantages of an effective prevention policy: facts and figures. Implement individual and organisational strategies to minimise these risks what causes burnout Thewarning signs of burnout The 3 specific dimensions of burnout, which can be measured and assessed The latest research on caregiver burnout and why it’s important to know what type of “giver” you are Latest research on burnt out for police officers and fire fighters Latest research on burnt out for emergency officers Key gender differences associated with burnout ( in the above fields separately) What is resillience Building blocks to resilience / prevention Strategies to build mental health stronger all of which have been tested on the above categories ( occupations) maybe have about 5 key strategies for each group / occupation A 5-minute strategy to calm your nerves and center yourself when you’re stressed out Why managing your energy is more important than managing your time How to improve your relationship at home and work example and steps about how to develop your own personalized Burnout Prevention Plan for the above groups / occupations . A concrete action plan to prevent stress and burnout and to handle it at every stage. Once the training is developed and the job is paid for I reserve all copyright rights to reprint, publish etc.

Firstly, I am a qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist. Therefore, I am an expert in anxiety, depression, trauma and burnout. I am also a researcher, having completed a PhD thesis which is currently under consideration for publication. Vicarious trauma is a crucial part of my work and teaching. I recently delivered a 3-hour trauma presentation to my multi-disciplinary work colleagues. This is one of a host of training sessions (1-3 hours) which I have delivered over my career. My proposal is: Firstly, icebreaker task. Then signs and symptoms of trauma/vicarious trauma. Statistics / research about this across police officers, firefighters and emergency officers. Done via an interactive quiz format with powerpoint aides. What is burnout - how does this link to trauma and vicarious trauma - linking here to career and gender. Carter (2013) signs of burnout: exhaustion, attachment, inefficiency. A practical task involving post-it notes as to how many attendees are struggling with those three things, and what strategies they use to cope. Components of resilience. How can we use these theories & integrate into our work (key strategies for the different professions, thinking about improving relationships and time management). Several mental health practical exercises in groups: mindfulness, grounding. Worked example using flipchart paper. Get the trainees to 'problem solve' for an imaginary firefighter and use this to come up with their own plans which they take home.
