Answer: Using unitary method As we are going to find how much work Rakesh have done so we will have to keep the number of work done to the right hand side. So, In 20 days Rakesh have done 1 work. In 1 day Rakesh have done 1/20 work Therefore, in 4 days Rakesh have done 1/20 x 4 work = 1/5 work (Answer) b)6 men can complete the electric fitting in a building in 7 days. How many days will it take if 21 men do the job? Answer: Using unitary method We will be finding the number of days needed to finish the same work so it will be on the right side. 6 men complete the electric fitting in 7 days. 1 man completes the electric fitting in (7 x 6) days = 42 days 21 men complete the electric fitting in 42/21 days = 2 days. (Answer) Therefore, in 2 days the total job will be completed by 21 men. (Note: 7 and 6 are multiplied because 1 man will have to do all the work and so it will take the longest time) c)A student buys a pen for Rs 90 and sells it for Rs 100. Find his gain and gain percent. Answer: Gain of the student= (100 – 90) Rs = 10 Rs Gain percentage= (Gain/Original price) x 100% = (10/90) x 100% = 11.1%
