Persuasive Essay about a Current Trending News topic- Need Final Draft by 4/24

Topic/content Issues Choose a current issue that is national or international and in the news now. For example, you might write a persuasive article on the role money plays in political campaigns or on gun laws and the mentally ill. Try to avoid topics that have been written about over and over again (i.e. Abortion, Capital Punishment, Legalization of Marijuana, etc.). If you are unsure whether the topic you are considering is a current and "in the news now" topic, please contact me as soon as possible. While this is a persuasive essay, you need to make your stance on the issue clear; however, as you'll see, to be truly persuasive, you'll need to address the other side of your issue. Second person narration is not allowed for this essay. Organization Since you need to know how to write longer essays for other classes, this essay cannot be a 5 –paragraph style essay. You must be able to expand on that style of essay to write longer and more complex essays. Transitions and linking ideas (organizational styles) are also very important for this essay. Research Issues You have to use a total of four sources in your essay, though you will have to find at least five sources for your Annotated Bibliography (more on that in future weeks). You must have a minimum of two library database sources. They may not be from the same database (such as CQ Researcher or Academic Search Complete). You must also use at least one source from the Internet. There must be a balance of information from all four sources, and that information must also be balanced throughout the essay. In essay 2, we discussed the importance of providing a balance of information. Proper format for MLA parenthetical citations is required. Proper format for quotations is also required for this essay. The Works Cited page must be in correct MLA format and will count as an assignment grade. Length and Format 4-6 double-spaced pages and 12-point Times New Roman font. Remember, you must properly format quotations and cite from at least four sources; two sources must be from different databases on Galileo. Be sure to include in-text citations within your essay and a Works Cited page at the end of it. Research the public Internet and the library's website to find the source material for your essay. You will also practice your evaluating skills by annotating each source, and practice your documentation skills by providing a Works Cited entry for each article. These will be combined into an annotated bibliography. Once you have found 5 sources that are helpful and trustworthy, use the guidelines on "Annotated Bibliographies" to prepare your annotated bibliography in correct MLA format. Your Annotated bibliography must include the following: MLA citation for each source A brief (3-5 sentences) annotation that includes the following: a summary of the source, an evaluation of its credibility, and how you plan to use it in your essay
