Two Excel files will be provided. The Signers file will have roughly 1600 entries. These are persons that signed our petitions. The All Voters file has approximately 23,000 entries. Both files contain names and addresses of registered voters.
The goal is to make a column in the All Voters file and then put a check mark in that column if that person signed the petitions, in other words, if they are located in the Signers file. If the names and addresses are complete in the Signers file, then all a person has to do is search for that name in the All Voters file and if a match is found, put a check mark in the new column created.
Two problems may arise. First, the Signer is not listed in the All Voters file after it was searched. To resolve this, the Freelancer should also add another column in the Signers file. This entry will have an X if the person is found in the All Voters file (remember also that the All Voters file should have a check mark in a new column when found), or an NL (for Not Listed) if it is not found. The Freelancer should also fill out the full name in the Signers file. If instead the name can be made out but not the address, then the Freelancer should search on the name and do the same for the address. Samples of what the full Excel files will look like are attached.
Second, several hundred of the names could not be determined in the Signers file and hence are blank. To resolve this, the Freelancer should search the All Voters file for the address instead. If found or not found, follow the steps immediately above.
In the end, the two files will have two additional columns. The All Voters file will have a check mark for the roughly 1600 of the 23,000 persons who signed our petitions. The Signers file will have a column for whether that person was found and the full name of the person if it was missing.
