January 17, 1997. A monumental day in history. Jake Paul was born, but nobody gave a shit about Jake Paul until Vine. In 2013, Paul gained his following through making 6 second videos of sketches, pranks, and lighting things on fire. Quality content. For 2 years, Paul played Dirk Mann in Bizaardvark, a Disney Channel OG not as good as Even Stevens. But now? He's a pro boxer with his matches airing through Triller and pay per view on cable TV. He's truly a star on multiple different platforms, but this begs the question. Who exactly is consuming Jake Paul content now… and liking it?
At Paul's public inception, he was 16 years old. His blonde hair and ovular face made him the poster boy for prepubescent sex appeal. According to Statista, the average Vine user was between 18 and 24 years old, inferring that his fan base then was mainly young millennials. Once he joined the Disney Screen, his viewers got a little younger. The Wall Street Journal boasts that Disney Channel's top demographic is 9 to 14 year olds. So, from 2016 to 2018, during his Disney stint, children were his biggest fans. But now, Jake Paul, the man of many talents, pivots to boxing, and the Sports Illustrated Business Review concluded that the average boxing viewer is 49! Today, his Viners from 2013 would be at oldest 31 years old, and his Disney viewers would be at most 16 year old, and then the 49 year olds who love to watch Jake Paul get the shit hit out of him. Those are his fans.
