Dear Rachel,
To answer your questions: Three days won't get you quality -- only a botched rush job. For a story of at least 2000 words, I'd be looking for US$200. For samples of my published short stories, please chat me and I shall attach them to the reply. I have personal experience of two immigrations, as man and boy. I served as fiction editor of DRUM magazine for 12 years, during which time I selected and edited some 600 short stories. My novel "After the Eclipse" won the Sanlam Literary Award, and you'll find my bylines (Tom Rymour/Tom Learmont) on AbeBooks, GoodReads, Kindle and Amazon. I have a BA (English) from the University of London, and a wealth of experience in national print and broadcast media. Since May last year I have written a noir thriller which is doing the rounds, and four books under non-disclosure agreements for separate US and Asian publishers: a YA novel, a jungle adventure, a Californian cozy and a fantasy. Please chat, so that I can revert with samples.
Here's wishing you well over the plague . . .
Tom (Learmont)
