develop an Android app in which the user can setup wifi on the raspberry pi via bluetooth

I have both an Android mobile and a RPi Zero (Wireless), so I can test to ensure the functional requirements are met before delivering. I have experience developing on both platforms. Will be available for any follow-up support / concerns

I have worked before with raspberry pi and currently possessing 1 of pi3 and 2 pizero. I know its a tremendous work if you want to change wifi credential. So my approach will be to write a python script which will accept formatted wpa-supplicant. via bluetooth. And will also write an app with xamarin which can connect with raspberrypi via bluetooth and send wifi credentials to it. Only one addendum is that, we cant do it on freshly booted pi. We must add the python script at startup which means it needs some configuring. This(the configuration for startup) may be possible to pack in a .sh file and running it as root.(May be) All of this comes in the 350$ budget. Required time might be +/- 2 days. Let me propose a solution for your project- --> an script on raspberry side to accept bluetooth connection to accept and share data, which can be break in to part SSID and password and update in config file of raspbian and connect it to wifi. --> Anroid app to scan bluetooth device and select available pi-bluetooth device. Then prompt for SSID and password to share with raspberry pi. And show successful message after completion. Please share your views regarding my proposal. Thanks

Hello Sir, As per my understanding, you want to get an application build, which searches the bluetooth device installed on raspberry pi, pairs with it, and pass the available wifi network information such as wifi ssid, bssid and password. Once the information is passed, the raspberry pi devices reboots and connects with wifi. After pi gets connected to wifi, now the mobile app will find the ip address assigned to pi. Hope I am clear about the requirement. So if it is the way you want to get it implemented, I have already created similar applications both for android and ios. However in order to get a better insight of your requirement, we can discuss, so that we can have this task implemented in the best possible way. Thanks in advance

Hi.. Interesting project. I already done similar project like this, with different approach. The good news is raspberry pi onboard wifi can be used both as access point and wifi client at the same time. In my case : First, i create simple web page in raspberry pi , basically, to scan nearby wifi, and there is form to select scanned wifi access point, and input wifi password. Second, i create access point in raspberry pi, using virtual access point interface. So, device with wifi will be able to connect to raspberry pi and access the raspberry pi wifi client setup page. Because of limitation of bluetooth functionality (i think the best is using bluetooth serial communication, thats mean a whole lot programming in raspberry pi, only to set wifi credential), i think this method worth to try. And also, experiencing my previous project, utilising pi’s bluetooth, i can tell the onboard bluetooth is very unstable, sometimes i need to reboot several times in order to make pi’s bluetooth viable. Strange behaviour. However, please let me know if you are interested in this method. Thank you and have a good day..
