Elegant PHP/RoR coder with maps API experience desired for simple search site

We are building a simple search web app that allows users to search for an item from within our database using three separate methods: a geographical location criterion (either ‘near x’ or ‘within the bounds of y’); a name criterion; or a tags-based attributes search. Results are displayed based on matching criteria, as well as a popularity score determined by customer behavior. Users may tag existing items. Simple. In addition to the basic search and tagging functionality, we are building: * addition and modification of items by admin (so there’s something to search for) * user login, profiles, and management * user behavior tracking and search history We have spec’d out the app in detail and are looking for an individual or a team to develop the engine while we refine the UI. This will be built in PHP and/or Ruby on Rails and MySQL while we design the XHTML/JS/CSS frontend. There will be elements of integration with a maps API (Google, Yahoo, etc.); the developers will be expected to recommend the proper solution based on our needs. This is a great opportunity to build a simple but complete product that will be publicly viewable. There will also be an opportunity for future work as we revise the site for launch. We require daily updates from the devel(s), including current working files, and clean, documented code. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
