GPS monitoring midlet

For our field research we need a J2ME application (MIDlet for MIDP 1.0) which is capable of getting location data (NMEA) from the serial port of java enabled phones (eg SonyEricsson T610, Siemens and Nokia phones), process and display these. The midlet must be able to send and receive location data to and from a server. Probably servlet will be necessary as well. requirements: A) _Reception of data_ 1. Data from GPS receivers connected with a cable to the serial port of the phone 2. Data from bluetooth GPS receivers 3. Data from a microcontroller placed in between the phone and GPS receiver. Not clear yet if the GPS data are already parsed 4. Data from an URL (specified by user) to be stored as a bookmark. B) _Processing of NMEA data _Raw NMEA data need parsing. The henson package might be used for the floating point issue. C) _Display of NMEA data _The NMEA data (e.g. lat lon, altitude, speed) need to be shown on the canvas as strings, but also on a small map (menu options). To get the map the NMEA data maybe have to be send to a server (tomcat with servlet), picking up a map with location overlay as a picture file, changes this in PNG format and sends back to MIDlet for display on the canvas. Integration of waypoints and POI's is necessary. D) _Transfer NMEA data to/from server _1. In the menu make option with login (username and password) which switches the sending of the location data with a specified frequency to server on and off. 2. Override option 1. to send location data in case of an emergency without login, e.g. user presses the # key. These should be labeled so server distinguishes between normal and emergency. 3. Import NMEA data from specified URL by user + ability to map these. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
