In this project, we will be looking at partially automating an electric car. We shall refer to this system as Car Automation and Telemetry System (CATS). This system sends data periodically to a server known as Recorder for Automated Telemetry (RAT) which aims to act as a blackbox of sorts.
In this assignment, it is assumed that the base board is a larger prototype version of CATS, with several output devices to help in the debugging during development. The XBee RF module is assumed to a be a low powered wireless communication device that sends collected data to RAT.
It is required to interface with various devices on the Base Board for data capture and data transmission. The reason are
1. Accelerometer has an extremely wide range of applications. For CATS, the accelerometer is assumed to be mounted in the front of the car. The accelerometer can be used to detect collisions and deploy airbag to minimise injuries to passengers.

[url removed, login to view] sensor - The temperature module on CATS measure the temperature of the battery in the electric car. To reduce the risk of explosion, the CATS system will advise that the car is brought to a gradual stop.
