International Healthcare Research Project

This international healthcare research project is focused on the private practice physical therapy (also known as physiotherapy) international market. "Private practice" means independent ownership by investors or by the physical therapists themselves. We are a United States based physical therapy company seeking expansion into international markets and need to determine which markets have the most desirable environments. This would include identifying which healthcare systems are most favorable to physical therapy. For example, in the United States, we have government insurance and private "commercial" insurance payers. Average reimbursement per physical therapy visit in the United States ranges between $75-$100 USD for 40-60min sessions. Cash or self-pay is not very prominent but does exist and is becoming more popular. The research paper will include a list of the most desirable countries for physical therapy with objective, fact based evidence backing up the research. Please include compensation levels for physical therapists, if the therapists need to be licensed, if they face heavy government or medical regulations, competition landscape in the country (i.e fragmented independent business owners or mega corporations), physical therapy reimbursement rates, how patients are sent to physical therapists (is this a physician referral channel?), economic information about the country and demographics, is there an aging population in need of physical therapy, and total physical therapy market opportunity (market share) in the country.
