I started War of Awards in 2015 with a small crowd at the LA Cosplay Con during E3. The concept of War of Awards is essentially debates about what will/should win awards. I kept it on track but had to hire a camera person who did not really deliver the style I asked.
To make sure I got the right style of camera work, I shot it myself with a small rig in 2016 at PAX South in San Antonio:

But being absent as host meant it went off the rails in places, and regrettably I did not switch to picture mode occasionally to get very high resolution crowd shots for marketing/web purposes.
So my main goal for the next event in Denver is to get those pictures if we have a decent crowd, but also find someone who can match the orbital video style and demonstrate it beforehand with a test run that I will suggest and describe.
I'll be hosting and working the crowds again, curious to see how the esports community responds.
The venue is National Western Complex where they are having the Dreamhack show. Because this is the first year of the show, I'm not sure what to expect and am hesitant to invest in a full crew. I'm hoping to get the right person who is a jack of all trades and come away with solid pics and b-roll, then possibly go bigger next year with full sponsorship.
I think we are scheduled for 4:30pm on October 21. Still confirming time.
