INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES Hobby computer coding: graphical, mathematical, and network applications. I am proficient in Java, C++, IA32 assembly, in order of descending proficiency. I’m also familiar with various computer technologies such as what’s going on beyond the user-interface of network tools and games, the HTTP protocol, and how to keep a PC safe from malicious code – to name only a few. I can also proficiently utilize the WWW to perform various tasks involving communication, research, and education. Reading: mathematics history books, textbooks, fiction novels. Exercise: Mountain-biking, staying physically fit, bettering my diet, and practicing moderation. Repairing things that someone would normally throw out. Practicing kindness toward all living things down to the insect-level. Being politically aware, voting, arguing. Extracuricular-school: I avidly worked on problems of the week in the mathematics department at NAU. I won a geometry book for one of my solutions. I was a key member of the Verde Valley Robotics Team during my last year of high school. We won the Highest-Seeded Rookie Award for both the Colorado and Phoenix regionals. I single-handedly constructed an unbreaking gearbox for our robot’s lifting-grabbing arms using no more than a cross-cut saw, drill-press and a file; and was the lead programmer of our robot’s control logic (coding in C). The presentations using the images were part of an international symposium on prototype trifurcated stint implantations (unblocking coronary arteries using a new technique). Currently working on a simple application to enable the doctor to perform the conversion process himself. The UI will be done with wxWidgets, and the back-end is open-source software connected via a command-line interface.
