Transfer Magento Skin to new database

I had an existing magento installation which I asked a developer to move across to a new server. The database was too large to accomplish successfully and so I have now done a new magento install. I now have to get all the relevant design information from the old database into the new one. Im not interested in transferring product / catalog / sales information. I simply want to have a website that looks the same as the original. I tried to simply copy the skin directory to the new install but obviously many of the skin settings are stored in the database as well so now I am lost. All necessary files are now stored on the new server The Job : Either restore the original database and modify paths in the config so that it will work in the new location OR transfer the necessary design files from the old database to the new one, copy the necessary files from the existing website to the new installation.
