About [login to view URL] Neuron is a new product by Nerdstudy, a funded startup (between $5.5 million — $10 million valuation, awarded funding of $1 million in 2017) that aims to help high school and university students to learn efficiently and effectively. Primarily a video library platform, Nerdstudy has focused heavily on the production element - most of our attention has been put into creating video lessons that have been well-received by our target market. However, we are looking to create a far more adaptive, interactive, and smart learning system. The upgrade to our vision has been so drastic that we have decided to start this project off with a fresh name of [login to view URL] Imagine an adaptive learning experience: *an experience that goes beyond teaching the initial lesson through video *an experience that goes beyond asking the obvious initial, fundamental questions *an experience that adapts to the student, remembers the student, and pushes questions based on spaced repetition (with the aim of helping students practice material they think they’ve mastered, but may forget) *an experience that doesn’t conform to one curriculum, and instead allows any given teacher and/or the student to customize their own curriculum as they see fit Neuron believes that in order to be the best at helping students learn, we must first become the best at learning the students themselves. Together, our aim would be to build an app that truly aims to teach and inspire. MERN (or Mean) Stack Lead Ninja needed! We would like to work with one or two engineers whose career goals can align with a part of our vision. This position is projected to be full-time and should last beyond the finishing of the Beta version of the web-app. Even after our initial launch, we would like to work with our engineer(s) to continuously upgrade our product based on analysis of our analytics. We want someone to really become an integral part of our team. In fact, we’ve wanted this so much that we have had difficulty finding the right match. We prefer (but not in a strict sense): -the same time zone (EST) -proficiency in written and spoken English -someone who can join frequent video calls throughout the day and work closely with us on this exciting project together -someone who has experience analyzing data about users (all relevant analytics: how often do users come back to use the app; how do users use the app; where are we getting most of our referral traffic from and etc; what's our churn rate and how do we solve it?) Pay Our pay can vary based on many factors. Our decision ranges from taking on a smart fresh graduate or an experienced engineer based on our assessment of his/her technical expertise and how well the candidate fits our culture. Most developers that we are interested in tend to range from $25/hr to $60/hr, but we are not necessarily capped at the range.
